Michel Terpin and Maykel Justo Continue to Shine in Sertões Rally

In July 2016, Michel Terpin and Maykel Justo participated in the Sertões Rally 22nd edition. The race covered 155 kilometers of timed sections with each section having a different type of terrain. There was a lot of dirt on the roads requiring lots of skills and caution while driving. Despite these challenges, the duo managed position 7. However, the team couldn’t manage to finish the special race as their car toppled at KM 62. They were not injured, but the car was damaged preventing them from continuing.

On March 2017, the duo participated in the 22nd Sertões Rally and managed to win the second stage and position 5 in overall categories. Michel Terpins noted that the routes had difficult stretches. He was thankful though that they managed to have a good pace and finish at a good position. Michel and Justo were driving their #322 T-Rex developed by MEM team. Before the race, their car had received the Green Initiative Carbon Free seal, which meant that all the carbon dioxide emitted by the car during the race was compensated by planting trees.

25th Edition of Sertões Rally

The 25th Sertões Rally ran from 19th August to 26th August 2017 and was covering over 3,300 kilometers. Terpin and Justo were driving their T-Rex. They were on the T1 prototype category. This was the second year in a row that the team was using the car. However, this time it had undergone modifications, which made it more powerful for the competition.

The ride was not as smooth as they would have expected as their car suffered some mechanical problems. They didn’t receive timely mechanical support, which resulted in the breaking of the gearbox and damage to the rear suspension. Michel Terpins was forced to pull off from the race but still managed position 4 in the Prototype T1 and the 10th position in the overall race. Terpins who is 40 years old holds the title of the leader of the Brazilian Cross Country Rally Championship. For the last two years, he has been relying on navigation skills of 37 years old Justo.
