Marco Rubio Traveling With Professional Photographer

Florida Senator Marco Rubio may have set a new standard for vanity with reports that he is campaigning for Republican candidates with a professional photographer following him around.

The photographer, who is being paid by Rubio’s political action committee (PAC) Reclaim America, has notably been seen at events in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. All three of those states are important building blocks in any 2016 presidential run.

The political nature of the photographer’s presence becomes even more evident when looking at what happens when a person wishes to have his photo taken with Rubio.

When the person goes on the website, they have to enter their name, address and personal e-mail before being allowed to download the photo. In short, they’re asking to be spammed by Rubio over the course of his presumed run for the presidency. When my friend Igor Cornelsen filled out the form, he ended up with a blown up inbox by the end of the week.

While Rubio hasn’t indicated he is making a 2016 run, he has been a prominent presence in the Republican party, including as a potential option as Mitt Romney’s running mate in 2012.

  • After the digital photo is taken, a Rubio aide hands the person a card and tells them they can download the photo for free by going on the website for Rubio’s PAC. It is very sweet for to observe what is happening this time around.
