Robert Ivy Providing A Bright Future For Architects

Robert Ivy serves as the Chief Executive Officer and the Executive Vice President of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) with over 90,000 members based in Washington D.C. AIA is a professional organization for architects supporting their profession and public image.Robert was made its CEO in 2011. Ivy graduated from the University of the South with a bachelor of arts in English degree. Helater joined Tulane University where he graduated with a Masters of Architecture.

After university, Robert started his career journey in 1996 as the Editor in Chief of Architectural Record. The editing job helped improve his knowledge, and with his skills, the record became the most widely read architectural journal. Robert then worked at McGraw-Hill Construction Media as the Vice President and Editorial Director. McGraw Hill included Architectural record: magazine, HQ, constructor and sweets among others. In 1998, Ivy received the McGraw-Hill award for management excellence.

Robert was honored to be on the panel that chose architect Frank Gehry to design the National Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial. The architectural record has received many awards under the leadership of Robert Ivy such as the American society of magazine editors national magazine award, and the premier magazine journalism award. Moreover, the record has earned folio design awards, 26 Jesse H. Neal awards and the 2008 MPA digital award.In 2009, Ivy was granted the Crain award.

He also serves as a senior fellow of the design futures council. The national architecture fraternity, Alpha Rho Chi, voted Ivy, the master architect because of his efficient communication on the value of design. Ivy published his great standard biography, Fay Jones Architect, in 2001 and currently is in its third edition.

As an architect, Ivy ensures that AIA is a strong association. He promotes the company through public health outreach, education initiatives and advocacy strategies which improve their services to the clients. He believes in promoting the public awareness of AIA for the relevance and value of architects. Ivy focuses on AIA to accomplish a new digital first-technology infrastructure, improve on decision-making and launch an award winning public awareness campaign. AIA has grown tremendously ever since Robert Ivy stepped in.
