Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi Was Born To Work At Bradesco

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi became the President of Bradesco in March of 2009. This occured right after the bank’s rival Itaú Unibanco regained their lead. He decided being first place in the ranking was not a goal by itself. He simply wanted to do the best possible job for the municipalities served by the bank. The situation changed in August because under the leadership of Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi Bradesco made an incredibly bold move.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi began by obtaining approval from the Chairman of the Board, Lazaro Brandão. He then paid $5.2 billion United States dollars to purchase HSBC’s Brazilian branch. This transaction enabled Bradesco to once again be a candidate for leading the private sector. When the market shares of HSBC and Bradesco were combined Itaú Unibanco was outperformed in three separate categories. This included the total of investment funds, the number of account holders and the branch network. Bradesco came close to their rival in three additional categories including loans issued, deposits and assets.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi stated the acquisition enabled Bradesco to obtain what would have required six years in standard growth. This was the reason Money honored him with the title of Entrepreneur of the Year. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi has an excellent education. He attended the University of São Paulo and his banking career began in 1969. He started in the echelons of the institution and worked his way through the different hierarchy levels. The work he accomplished at Bradesco Seguros from 2003 until 2009 enabled him to become the President of Bradesco. His area of expertise has been responsible for approximately thirty percent of the current profits for Bradesco.

The moment Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi took office he started a corporate university. His purpose was to renew the leadership cadres. He talked with executives in all positions to complete his goal. To ensure success he established specific rituals so those who were promoted received autonomy. The Noble Hall is considered the banks most solemn area so this is where these individuals gathered. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi warned the participants if they were given the microphone they would be required to speak, vocalize their position, send a message and have a plan of action along with a strategy. His search for professionals within the sector was proof he has initiated a renovation. An excellent example is Renato Ejnisman. He is Bradesco BBI’s responsible Executive Director and has served both BankBoston and Bank of America.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi begins his work at Bradesco at approximately 7:00 a.m. out of habit. He continues working until 6:00 p.m. His working hours are often extended due to business dinners. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was under consideration for the Ministry of Finance earlier in the year. The invitation came from President Dilma Rousseff but he did not accept. This was best explained by one of the executives in his inner circle. He said Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was born to work for Bradesco. He gained experience for working in the bank with more than four decades. Lázaro Brandão is the soul of Bradesco and Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi is the strongest man ever to succeed him.
