Midweek Inspirations: Ruth Asawa
Last week when I posted about Yoola's crocheted jewelry, Lisa Solomon left a comment that introduced me to the work of Ruth Asawa. Asawa is an American painter and sculptor who began experimenting with crocheted wire sculptures in the 1950s. She "considers these sculptures three-dimensional drawings. Instead of the lines moving across the paper, the lines move through three-dimensional space." Her work is amazing and is currently on display in San Francisco. I'm trying to figure out a way to get up there to see it in person. I love the way the artist is photographed with her work below. Enjoy!
