CCMP Capital Mourns The Death Of Its Former CEO Stephen Murray

Stephen Murray, the former president and CEO of CCMP Capital, passed away on March 12, 2015, at the age of 52. He spent his career life as a private equity investor and philanthropist who managed to attain a good record in both fields. Stephen Murray attended Boston College and graduated with a degree in economics in 1984.By 1989, he had earned a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia Business School, one of the best business schools in the country. In 1984, Stephen Murray joined the analyst training program at Manufacturers Hanover Corporation, and later in 1989, he joined MH Equity Corporation. Stephen Murray was announced head of a buyout at JP Morgan Partners in 2005. Later in August 2006, Stephen Murray CCMP Capital, which was at that time a spinout of JP Morgan Chase that was to venture into the buyout and growth equity markets as a private equity group. Stephen Murray was named CEO of CCMP Capital in 2007 a position which he held until shortly before his demise. As a philanthropist, Stephen Murray made donations to Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, Stamford Museum, and Columbia Business School, and also supported them.
